Developer, Coder, Manager, Problem-Sover, Film-Maker and Movie Fan
Hello, my name is Patrick Bell. I am currently a Dean’s List junior at the Rochester Institute of Technology majoring in New Media Interactive Development. My major involves the design and coding of websites, apps, social networking platforms, gaming, and virtual reality, with a focus on the interfaces that enable improved, engaging, interactive experiences between people and technology.
I have experience working in a team environment on challenging assignments which required creative approaches and the application of the most current technology. I was responsible for the management and oversight of a 5-person technical team working on the front-end build of a diagnostic telemedicine web portal that will connect remote patients with physicians. Duties include team-based technical research and decision-making, weekly task assignments, quality monitoring, and reporting to senior management.
During my time at RIT, I’ve gained an understanding of digital writing and effective presentation design. My development and coding experience includes conditionals, loops, variables, data types, functions, and parameters in C# and Processing, and the use of HTML and JavaScript. My illustrative and image work includes 2D and 3D design, raster and vector image creation, and editing and composing for online production. I’ve also taken classes and worked on projects involving algorithmic problem-solving and co web design and implementation.
Projects
During the summer of 2018, I was hired as the team leader for the front-end development team of a telemedicine company known as MIDA. My job was to manage the five person team while we where building the MIDA website. The website we where building was a web portal that would connect patients remotely to physicians. The major jobs I had when doing this assignment included doing technical research, decision making on technologies we would use to build the website, weekly task management and monitoring the quality of my teamates' work.
